Earnest Byner was a talented and versatile running back who enjoyed a successful 14-season career in the NFL. Drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 1984, he was known for his powerful running style, reliable hands as a receiver, and his ability to block. Byner played for the Browns, Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Ravens, amassing over 8,000 rushing yards and over 4,000 receiving yards in his career. He was a key contributor to the Redskins' Super Bowl XXVI victory in 1992. Sadly, Byner is also remembered for "The Fumble" in the 1987 AFC Championship game, where he lost possession of the ball near the goal line, costing the Browns a chance to tie the game against the Denver Broncos.
