Hank Aaron, nicknamed "Hammerin' Hank," was a titan of Major League Baseball, leaving his mark on the game for over two decades. Playing from 1954 to 1976, primarily for the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves, Aaron smashed numerous hitting records. He famously surpassed Babe Ruth's career home run record in 1974, a feat met with national attention that transcended just baseball. Aaron's dominance extended beyond home runs, though. He boasted an impressive batting average, a plethora of RBIs, and even earned Gold Glove awards for his fielding prowess. Considered one of the greatest to ever play the game, Aaron's legacy extends far beyond statistics. He faced racism throughout his career, becoming a symbol of perseverance for African Americans both on and off the field.
